The romance of the Al Ándalus begins with the carriages themselves. They were built in France in the 1920s and 1930s for the most glamorous rail travel of the age — carrying British royalty and high society between Calais and the French Riviera.
Restored to their golden age
Lovingly restored, the cars now form a moving Belle Époque hotel: 32 cabins in marquetry and brass, and a procession of salon cars — restaurant, bar and a tea salon — where the day unwinds to live music. Few trains anywhere capture the elegance of the golden age of rail as completely.
