FAQs
Everything you need to know before you travel.
What is the Al Ándalus train?
The Al Ándalus is a luxury tourist train made of lovingly restored 1920s Belle Époque carriages — originally built in France for British royal travel on the Côte d'Azur. It runs a 7-day, 6-night journey between Seville and Madrid, in both directions, through Andalusia, Extremadura and Castile, with guided excursions every day.
How much does the Al Ándalus cost?
Fares start from around €4,500 per person, all-inclusive, with higher fares for the larger Deluxe Suites. The price covers the cabin, full board with gourmet dining, all guided excursions and entrance fees, drinks and onboard entertainment. Contact our official reservations office for current 2026 and 2027 pricing.
What is the route and how long is the journey?
It is a 7-day, 6-night journey between Seville and Madrid, running in both directions, with stops and excursions in Córdoba, Jerez de la Frontera and Cádiz, Mérida, Cáceres, Toledo and Aranjuez — taking in five UNESCO World Heritage cities across Andalusia, Extremadura and Castile.
What is included in the price?
All-inclusive: your cabin for six nights, full board including gourmet lunches and dinners, all guided excursions and entrance fees, drinks and onboard entertainment, and a luxury coach that follows the train for excursions.
When does the Al Ándalus operate?
The train operates in spring and autumn, when southern Spain is at its most pleasant. Departures alternate direction (Seville–Madrid and Madrid–Seville) on selected dates. Live 2026 and 2027 dates are shown on the Dates & Fares page; book early, as departures sell out.
What are the cabins like?
There are 32 cabins in two categories: 20 Deluxe Suites (about 8.3 m², with a double bed that converts to a daytime sofa) and 12 Gran Clase rooms (about 6.6 m²). All have an en-suite bathroom with shower, climate control, wardrobe, safe, minibar and large windows. The train also has restaurant, bar and lounge salon cars.
How is the Al Ándalus different from El Transcantábrico?
The Al Ándalus is a grand, palatial 1920s train through southern Spain — Andalusia, Extremadura and Castile — with Moorish cities, sherry and flamenco. El Transcantábrico travels the cool green coast of northern Spain. Choose the Al Ándalus for Moorish monuments and southern warmth; choose El Transcantábrico for sea cliffs and the Picos de Europa.
Do you sleep on the train while it moves?
Generally no. The train travels mostly by day for the scenery and excursions and is parked at quiet stations overnight, so guests sleep without motion. Cabins are private and fully en-suite.
Is it suitable for international travellers?
Yes. We are the official authorized booking and information source, with English- and Spanish-speaking specialists, pricing in your currency, and help coordinating flights and extra nights in Seville or Madrid.
