Both are luxury trains, but they show very different countries.

Route & length

The Al Ándalus runs a 7-day journey between Seville and Madrid through Andalusia, Extremadura and Castile. The Costa Verde Express runs a 6-day journey along the green Cantabrian coast between Bilbao and Santiago de Compostela.

Style

The Al Ándalus is the grander, more palatial train (1920s carriages, 32 cabins). The Costa Verde Express is a comfortable, intimate train through cooler, greener country at a friendlier price.

Which to choose

For Moorish Spain, sherry and flamenco, choose the Al Ándalus. For the cool green coast and the Picos de Europa, choose the Costa Verde Express. We book and advise on both.
