Dramatically set above a bend of the Tagus, Toledo was the capital of Spain until 1561 and the meeting point of three faiths. Its great cathedral, its synagogues and mosque, and the paintings of El Greco fill a UNESCO old town that is, in itself, a museum of medieval Spain.
